Once celebrated as Nigeria’s most daring crime-buster, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari now finds himself entangled in a web of accusations—accusations that many believe stem from his unwavering stand against those determined to fragment and destabilize our nation. From terrorists and kidnappers to drug syndicates and secessionist sponsors, Kyari took the battle directly to Nigeria’s enemies.
Now, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered him to enter his defence in a trial bordering on alleged drug trafficking. But for those who know his track record, this is more than a legal matter—it is a political and moral assault on a man who dared to confront the untouchables.
Abba Kyari: The Man Who Fought the Underworld for Nigeria
From leading surgical strikes against deadly robbery gangs to dismantling sophisticated kidnapping rings, Kyari stood tall as a symbol of law, order, and national unity. His dedication to Nigeria’s territorial integrity was unmatched. He pursued terrorists into the forests, exposed transnational drug lords, and fearlessly confronted elements bent on ethnic or ideological division.
Yet today, those same enemies—once routed by his courage—have resurfaced, not with guns, but with propaganda, legal traps, and calculated narratives aimed at erasing his legacy.
Targeted by Conflict Entrepreneurs
Kyari’s real “crime,” it seems, was his refusal to compromise in the face of powerful conflict entrepreneurs—those who thrive on chaos, bloodshed, and insecurity. These forces, both local and international, found in him a formidable obstacle. When they couldn’t eliminate him on the field, they shifted the battlefield to courtrooms and headlines.
It is no accident that Kyari’s legal troubles began after a string of high-profile busts that rattled criminal empires, cut off illicit funding, and exposed the collaborators of violence and secession.
Where Is the Reward for Truth and Courage?
For a man who risked everything to safeguard the unity of Nigeria, this moment should provoke serious reflection. What kind of country turns its back on its bravest defenders? What signal are we sending to other patriots who daily risk their lives to protect the rest of us?
If DCP Abba Kyari is guilty of anything, it is of fighting too hard, too fearlessly, and too honestly for a united, secure Nigeria.
Let Justice Be Balanced—Not Weaponized
Justice must be blind—but it must also be fair. We call for a judicial process free from the manipulation of hidden interests and political vendettas. Let the facts be laid bare, but let history also record that when Nigeria stood on the edge, Kyari stood up—undaunted, unbowed, and uncompromising in his loyalty.
As we await the outcome of his trial, the real question remains: Will Nigeria protect those who protect her?
